Where are the Long Line Adventure sessions held?

The sessions are in person and held throughout North & East London. If you live in one of these areas there’s a location accessible via walking or public transport for you and your dog: Tottenham, Walthamstow, Wanstead, Stratford, Hackney, Stoke Newington, Finsbury Park, Crouch End, Muswell Hill & Wood Green.

How long is a long line?

Our Biothane long lines are 5 metres long - much longer than a standard 1-1.5 metre lead. The extra length gives your dog freedom to explore while staying manageable, even for beginners. Custom lengths are also available to order if you’d like to give your dog more room to roam.

Is using a long line difficult?

It shouldn’t be! Once you’ve learnt the safe way to hold your long line, it’s all about practice and understanding how to handle your long line in different situations. This is one of the skills you'll gain confidence with in the Long Line Adventure sessions.

Can I use a long line with a collar?

We always recommended using a harness instead of a collar to keep your adventures safe and comfortable. If your dog wears a collar, with the extra length of a long line compared to a standard lead, stopping suddenly can put a lot of strain on your dog's neck and back and accidentally injure them.

Are long lines good for puppies?

I honestly can't recommend long lines enough for puppies! Puppies have a bunch of energy, no sense of self preservation and a need to move their bodies freely. Learning how to use a long line can help them experience the world safely, while you keep your sanity.

Will using a long line improve my dogs recall?

Yes, long lines can be super helpful for working on recall. Whether your dog is a puppy that's still learning or an adult dog who forgets who they came to the park with, using a long line can prevent your dog from rehearsing stuff you don’t want. Helping you keep an eye on them whilst they still enjoy freedom.

Are long lines okay to use with reactive dogs?

We find that most dogs, including reactive dogs, feel more relaxed and curious when they are able to experience the world on a long line. This is often because being able to choose how they move helps them feel less worried. Gaining fluent handling skills like you'll learn in the Long Line Adventure Sessions is super important when using a long line with a reactive dog.

Can I learn how to use a long line from a video?

This is one way to learn. Our sessions are designed for dog guardians who want to learn in a fun, hands-on and interactive way. We’ll focus on providing personalised coaching and tips for the skills you’ll need to use a long line with your dog. You’ll be able to ask questions and practice together so you feel more confident when you and your dog go it alone.
